Peter is a chartered mechanical engineer FIMechE and FIE and is Visiting Professor in the School of Engineering at Edinburgh University. He started his career in aircraft manufacturing before moving to the mining and metallurgical industries. He founded IT Power Limited, a leading UK renewables energy consultancy, in 1981 where he worked exclusively on renewable energy technologies in his capacity as Technical Director. He left in October 2000 to work full time on the MCT technology. He has worked on renewable energy technologies since the mid-1970s and in addition to his work on water current kinetic energy conversion, he has been involved in a number of R&D programmes covering hydro-power, wind-power and solar photovoltaic systems from 1981 to 2000. He is a recognised authority on such systems with a number of publications to his name. Peter is responsible for the overall technical direction of the MCT development programme.
