SeaGen U

Seagen U

SeaGen U is a 3MW non-surface piercing device intended for deeper water sites.

SeaGen U will utilise three powertrains, derived from those used on the SeaGen S device tested at Strangford Lough, but will be installed on a different structure.

A surface piercing pile as used on SeaGen S will not be feasible for deeper water sites so SeaGen U will make use of a structure pivoted on the seabed that retains the MCT philosophy of raising the turbines out of the water for onsite maintenance.

The design of the SeaGen U structure is currently under development and testing is planned at the Bay of Fundy site.
